How to Calculate Keyword Effectiveness Index (KEI)

type='html'>
Keyword Effectiveness Index or KEI is a measure to find the effectiveness of keywords in the search engines. It is calculated by dividing the total number of webpages with the total number of searches for a particular keyword.One of the primary steps for doing proper search engine optimization is finding keywords that can perform well in the search engines and drive traffic to a website. KEI helps to find the chances of keywords to perform well in the search engines in order to drive traffic to a website. Keywords having a lower KEI gives you a better chance of ranking for those keywords.

Formula for Calculating KEI

The formula for calculating the Keyword Effectiveness Index is as follows:-

KEI = No. of Results / No. of Searches

Example

Let's us there are around 130000 competing webpages for a particular keyword having around 380 searches a month then KEI would be calculated as follows:-

KEI = 130000/380 = 342.10

The lower the KEI, the better your chances of ranking.
The greater the KEI, the lessser your chances of ranking.
