Google Authorship allows you to get recognized as an author of web content by Google. It is a way for Google to stop spam pages from appearing in the search results as people would commit less spam when their name gets attached with the content. It would also allow to find more genuine webpages from industry niche people. This is a great way to prevent less spam and list more relevant web pages.

What is Google Authorship?


Google Authorship allows you to link your Google Plus profile to the content your create. The content you write or create gets displayed on the search results with your picture which is fetched from your Google + profile.

1- Create your Google+ profile. (Visit - Google+)
2- Visit plus.google.com/authorship and click on the verification link.

Co-occurrence Frequencies - How Google May Identify Substitute Terms of a Query Term?

Google may use query revision engines in order to revise search queries and include substitute terms of the main query term. This is done in order to identify particular web documents that are responsive to the main query. The query revision engine consists of query revisers that picks the candidate substitute terms that are put into comparison program in order to find out co-occurrence frequencies that gets the final substitute term.

Google has been granted a patent that describes in detail about the process of finding out substitute queries and helping the users get exactly what they are looking for? This is not the same as "finding out synonyms", but instead, substitute terms match the main query word after determining its context using various methods.

The Process of Finding Out Substitute Queries


Step 1 - The search query enters the query revision engine.
Step 2 - The query revisers finds out the candidate substitute terms according to various criteria.
Step 3 - A substitute query is found out by determining and comparing the co-occurrence frequencies of the candidate substitute term with the co-occurrence frequencies of the main query term.

What are Co-occurrence Frequencies?


Google compares the occurrence of words that are contained in the original document with the words contained in the document where the candidate substitute query exists. This is done by constructing vectors and comparing the vectors together.

Google announced on their webmasters blog the launching of Opt Out Tool to allow the webmasters keep their site out of Google's web properties which includes Google Shopping, Google + Local, Google Flights, Google Hotels and Google Advisor.

How Google Identifies Related Entities From the Search Query Entity

Google has been granted a patent that explains the process how it identifies related entities after selecting the main entity from the search query itself. Here is how related search query entities are identified whenever a query is entered in Google:

There is a separate search engine which classifies a search query into one of the 4 groups:

pornographic
navigational
local
Informational

After the classification of the search query, the entity present in the query is identified.  

Fetching Resources Having Relationship With the Main Entity

Returning Results Along With Other Related Queries
